(Celebrating Jesus Christ ;Celebrating humanity)
The Bible is a very popular and important book. One of its most striking features is the period of time it covered- from the origin of the world to the very end of it [eternity].
I also marvel at the choice of word used in the Bible because even though the words are simple, its logic and analytical deductions surpasses by far the level of intelligence we may accord to the writers of this book and to people who lived in their times.
As a spiritual book of practical significance, the Bible mirrors the reader into its scenario and quickly challenges their intelligence by providing answers to even unasked questions.
Initially I struggled to come to terms with the many revelations of the Bible. Armed with my education and worldly 'robust' wisdom I approached the book, reading and understanding to some extent but then again doubted and even secretly challenged many things which it said especially those that are quite frightening [e.g. the serpent talking to Eve] or those that eluded my immediate comprehension. But at some point and by His grace the truth became clearer as I gradually began to see evidence of Biblical truths all around me and all around mankind.
Now let us re-appraise the authenticity of the Holy Bible [the word of God]; bearing in mind that this book was written by men like us which has made most often dismiss the Bible and asking, 'of what practical relevance could a seemingly outdated book possibly have in our contemporary world...?
The Bible was written by approximately 40 authors, over a spanse of about 1600 years some of these authors like moses were named whereas the others remain anonymous.
This fact is made more peculiar when you consider that all of these people disclaim authorship of the books they wrote and instead accorded their source of information as coming directly to God. This easily expain why the Bible remains authored by God Himself. You would suppose people would always want to take credit for their efforts instead of all of them according it to the same source [God]. But you will soon find out why they all gladly obliged.
Second is the fact that these writers of the Bible lived at different times on earth covering all these years in question. The collation of the various books and its preservation should prompt questions like- who supervised the [trans-generational] collation of these separately authored books by authors who lived at different times? What was their source of inspiration, because without an extraordinary motivation it would be easy for these human agents of preservation to get consumed in the strifes of time and undermine the relevance of the book. But for all we care and know one thing remains-they all preached a common message and unanimously so .
This fact makes the Bible even more special as a rare survivor of the times.
Then third ,is the information in the book itself which their authors dedicated as originally [originating] from God. To further buttress this point ,one of the apostles named peter in his explanation in the book of 2nd peter 1 urges everyone to pay attention to the prophetic word of God ,in fact in verse 20 he states " that no prophecy of scripture is of any personal or private interpretation...." The fact remains thus that the holy Bible happens to be God Himself and must be taken most seriously. The Bible simply but strangely described God as ‘In the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God’ [John 1 vs. 1]. This may appear a vague description, but the truth behind those words is surely sufficient to those who truly revere Him. His unseen presence is because He is a Spirit and not visible to the human eyes.
But then again His alleged invisibility has been laid bare to us by virtue of the word because He is able to create with words and this aspect of His visibility is all around us to appraise and appreciate. Our first parents saw God when they were holy; and the Bible made us to know that 'blessed are the pure in heart for 'they shall see God' [ Matthew 5 :8].
As humans we are part and parcel of His creation and the ones to express or activate His handiwork in creation all over the universe, and whenever we read out the Bible we actually hear Him speak to us. How amazing! On this website we never stop praying that God in His own special way reveal Himself to you. He will touch your heart so you search out the truth about Him through the direct link He kindly availed us- The Holy Bible.
And finally, when you begin to go through the Bible yourself, your 'worldly logic' will have the truth to contend or agree with.
You will feel the power of His Holy presence and you will begin to re-appreciate the true meaning and value of the simple things of life which your intelligence had deemed inconsequential.
This is not imaginary as you will reconnect to the very purpose of man’s creation [to worship God and reflect His goodness in glory].
Humble yourself and as you read the Bible, the peace you will know will know no bounds. You will feel surprisingly relieved as God takes over your burden. Your former priorities appears trivial and even vain, as in God’s presence you will re-appreciate your self and things that really matters, what gives true happiness in life and what fulfils the glory in human existence.
We fervently pray that hardness of heart will depart from you so you can experience this peace which the Bible described as ‘surpassing every human understanding’, in Jesus name. Amen.
A SUMMARY OF BIBLICAL REVELATIONS
In a moment we will be looking at some Books of the Bible which I believe [by the Holy Spirit] will aid an overall appreciation of God’s presence amongst us, but let us first do a summary appraisal of the revelations of the Bible which made it a wholesome package worthy of its decent popularity.
The Bible reveals to us-
How human nature derives from God, how it all naturally started
When and how contamination crept in, desecrated and killed the flesh [body]
The betrayal, dishonour and shocking consequences it brought upon the human race
How the desires of the terminally poisoned flesh seek destruction of the immortal spirit [the being/conscience/soul]
The need to rescue our immortal spirit from the failing and short-lived flesh
How we have managed to appeal to God over the centuries despite our failings. We seem to spur the deep fondness and affection He had for the original man and woman He created
How our spirit which is our very essence appeals more to God [a Spirit]
The unthinkable amount of love and care available for us from God
How special we all personally are to God if we seek His face
How he is capable of revealing to you all about you if you acknowledge His undeniable supremacy and initiate a Father/Child link with Him
And crucially too how everything we see is capable of taking glory away if the wickedness of the flesh dominates our spiritual existence.
The Bible on the other hand further clarified whom we are contending with, the source of our fear, anxiety, weakness, death, sorrow, etc succinctly describing the enemy as ‘...Neither flesh nor blood but principalities and powers of darkness’[Ephesians chapter 6]
This means we cannot see them but as the Bible further revealed they are here, there and everywhere, their imprint everywhere about us nearly as much as the Glory of God in and about us. These dark powers are the origin of the pride [intelligence] and disobedience [wickedness] which had brought their own downfall. In rebellion, they turned to God’s most prized possession and contaminated the purity and innocence of Adam and Eve which appealed most to God. Though Adam and Eve our first parents passed on the death penalty, God ensured that death[eternal condemnation] did not defeat the purpose of His wonderful creation and thus permitted his only begotten son Jesus Christ to take on the role ,like a sacrificial lamb , he was lead to the slaughter in a bid to shed his blood because he was perfect and knew no sin. The aim here being to save mankind from eternal condemnation.
It's crucial to denote at this interlude that the mystery or logic behind the entire idea may appear a bit over the top,and this is as far as the human mind sees things. But for our God,his mysteriousness is beyond human understanding and perfect for his world. It's important to stress that the love of God ,for all of humanity in a plight to win us back from the stranglehold of the enemy is displayed at it's height in the death of Jesus Christ.
And we are happy to share yet again that it was a mission successfuly accomplished ,for it is written "None of the rulers of this age percived or recognized the truth about God,for if they did the lord of glory would never have been crucified "[1 corianthians 2:8].
God sees Adam and Eve in anyone of us who worships Him in truth and in spirit as they did before their fall.
The deadly contamination may explain-
Why we have so much intelligence and yet find certain bad, wrongful or sinful behaviours very hard to resist
How death came about.
According to God’s warnings, the consumption of this very fruit will be poisonous to man and would bring them death [Genesis 2 :17]. The enemy led them to disobey God, telling them that they will not die [thereby making God out to be a liar] and instead assured them of gaining ‘high level wisdom like God’s, knowing good and evil.’ Previously and comparable to children Adam and Eve know only good and know nothing of evil.
Why we came to live here on earth as God cannot harbour Adam and Eve’s newly acquired nature which is inherently bad and bound to rebel. Interestingly, as they departed His presence, God took steps to place a flaming sword east of the garden to deter man from re-entry...[Genesis 3:24]’ Think about the scientific discoveries today [especially the aeroplanes]. He is the all knowing God and knew that we would one day explode with this acquired unstoppable and rebellious knowledge and seek out the universe
Why we rely so much on our intelligence and yet our intelligence cannot be harmonised for the common good of all of us. This is because our wisdom is rebellious in nature and full of self-aggrandizing motives just as the arch enemy’s wisdom, whose pride and unhealthy competitive desires against God's kingdom had led to his own downfall.
With the passage of millions and millions of years, and as our origin continues to recede, we seem to be losing the original plot- the primary purpose of man’s [Adam and Eve’s] creation, which is to worship God by word and by conduct [Isaiah 43 vs. 21].
Then as we loiter about the earth like a shepherd-less flock lost in the middle of 'nowhere' and distracted by our daily survival routines, the enemy creeps in to snatch our glories, deceiving us into sin [as he did to Adam and Eve] and yet accusing us before God [as he did to Job] to secure our condemnation and make our immortal spirits his everlasting slave in death.
That is how much the devil wants to possess man for himself in direct rebellion against God, to punish man [God’s pearl of creation] in a bid to spite God. See more on the arch enemy below under the temptation of Jesus Christ.
You possibly may wonder how the devil [physically] decieves us into sin and condemnation... and how we can prove this assertion?
He works on a 'software' (a DNA seal on all humans) implanted in our hearts which effects around puberty age ,and which we inherited from birth by virtue of who we all are- humans, born of Adam and Eve the devil's first victim guilty of the 'original sin' of disobedience to God [Genesis.3].
Thus, though created in the goodness and purity found in God's own Adam and Eve and in children, we begin life's journey innocent. But along the line, and as Adam and Eve succumbed to evil, we are going to acquire a 'superior' knowledge to that of our parents [our earthly creator] and like our first parents this knowledge this will eventually make us... leave home.
The devil uses the things we see to manipulate our hearts and turn it away from God's good intendments for our life. Just as the fruit appealed to Adam, the object of our temptation is the abounding images and things about the earth. And just as the devil lied that they will not die [contrary to God's express warning], but instead they will have knowledge as God's, we all have to die because Adam and Eve disobeyed God.
We now have to feel the pangs of death in order to have an insight as to how God's best creation- Adam and Eve was destroyed by the devil. This is not a dilemma but a challenge to justify God's goodness in creation- what the devil intends to destroy, and His determination to give us another chance to refute the devil's advances as we enjoy His creations of which our life epitomises.
The devil succeeds when a soul is so sinfully unrepentant that it cannot enter the vicinity of God's presence. The devil harvests his snare and hijacks the soul for perpetual slavery and torture. Typical of him, instead of love, he will make the souls restless forever in eternal penury- a sustained attack on humanity, the very pearl of God's creation.
Despite the prevalent odds you will today appreciate how much of help is available from God and how FREELY this is given through the directions contained in the Bible which is administered with the Help of the Holy Spirit.
The only caution is that quite like medicines, one has to first admit that he/she is ailing and do need the help of a medication.
When Jesus was accused of identifying [wining and dining] mostly with sinners he proudly replied ‘I have not come for the healthy, but for the sick’. This simply means that God [as a caring father] is likelier to be interested in you if you happen to admit to having a problem and He will be at your beck and call if you seek your well being through Him.
In conclusion of these introductory phases therefore, we advise that in this race for life the standard of performance required of us in order to refute every accusation on our consciences by the devil is very high. This is especially because in death we cannot bring our iniquity before God’s holy presence.
Often times we have found justification to shun the good we know and do the evil we think we need or cannot avoid. We feel trapped in a rat race where it’s more like ‘every man on their own,’ with vices eroding the values. We may choose to continue to live for our human worldly and selfish desires and guess what, it is allowed as life is a free gift.
But without discovering the giver and the significance of our spiritual being we may die with agony that will forever besiege our condemned soul under the service of the fallen wicked angel. The only element in us that will help us to attain the promises of eternal glory is our spiritual state and wellbeing. This is why we strongly recommend comprehensive insurance in God and it will continue to the bane of our message. The Bible which is the word of God helps us to secure our failing flesh by helping insure us in Jesus and letting him deal with the weakness with which the devil will seek to implicate our spirit. The Bible said ‘my people perish due to ignorance [Hosea 4-6]and went ahead in fuller details in [2nd Corinthians] to emphasize about this sensible approach of denouncing the failing flesh by insuring our spirit in Jesus.
If you accept yourself as ‘sick’ [a notorious sinner always pleading guilty in your heart even before the offence is mentioned] you are well in Him and will have His prior attention for your honesty. And on the other hand, If you are not too sick [already walking in the shadow of goodness in all you do the much you could] your wellness is better secured in Him as the standard of purity required to behold God’s presence is high.
